Sanjaya Uvacha:

Drushtva Tu Pandavaaneekam
Yutam Duryodanaastada
Achaaryamupasangamya
Raja Vachanamabraveet

Sanjaya said :

“Seeing the arrangements of the soldiers of the army of Pandavas, King Duryodhana went to (his) teacher (Dronacharya – the Commander in Chief) and spoke thus”

Narration:

Sanjaya who was viewing the battle field saw that Duryodhan seeing the armed force arrangement of the Pandavas, went to Dronacharya, who was the teacher of both the sons of Pandu and Drudarashtr, and who is the Commander in Chief of the Kauravas and said……

In an earlier incident, both Duryodhan and Arjun meets Lord Krishna, each of them seeking the support of Lord Krisha on their side.  Lord Krishna tactfully joins Arjun’s side and offers his army to Duryodan.  Although, foolishly satisfied about the success of getting one of the strongest army on his side, Duryodan boasts of his success to Sakuni.  The perverted genius Sakuni immediately sense the failure of Duryodan’s mission and says that he has failed as he could not get Lord Krishna on his side.  Sakuni knew the strength of Lord Krishna and always tried not of offend Lord directly.  This incident instilled a fear in the heart of Duryodan, who thereafter, started suspecting each and everyone with him.

So, seeing the army formation of the Pandavas, which was unexpected, Duryodan goes up to the Commander – in Chief of his army and also his teacher, wanted to remind him a few things as a King.  It is not abnormal for a King to remind his requirements to his Commander – in Chief, before the start of any battle.  Duryodan, may have been upset at the mighty arrangements of the army of the Pandavas, under the passive leadership of Lord Krishna, wanted to remind his Commander – in Chief of his matters of concern.

Both Drutharashtr and Duryodan did not fully trust Dronacharya, as he was the teacher of both the Pandavas and Kauravas.  He was also never for injustice. So Duryodan  would have thought that he had to remind Dronacharya, his duties for the King.
