PANCHA PRATHYAKSHA DEVATHA
There are many categories of Devatha. The first and the foremost is the Kula Devatha, which is worshipped by ones ancestors. There are others as following:
The next in order is the Grama Devatha, the deity that is worshipped by all people in the locality. The next in order is the Ishta Devatha, the deity which one worship as per his liking.
In Kali Yuga, there is Prathyaksha Devatha – the deity which can be seen in some form. There are five such Prakthyaksha Devathas. Devatha here denotes both Gods and Goddess.
The Prathyaksha Devathas are Five. They are the three Divine Mothers - Maa Lakshmi, Maa Sakthi and Maa Saraswathi, and Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
Maa Lakshmi is in the form of Prosperity, Money, Wealth etc. Wherever, She remains, that place and people prosper. This form of Maa Lakshmi can be seen as Money, as Wealth or as Prosperity. Hence Maa Lakshmi is a very important Prathyaksha Devatha and is mostly associated with the attainment of material objectives in the earth. Maa Lakshmi bestows both Saatvic and Rajasvic qualities, depending on the person who is blessed by Maa Lakshmi.
Maa Sakthi prevails as Anna Purani, the Mother giving food for all of us, providing energy for us to work, providing courage etc. Food or Annam can be seen and touched and is the second most important Prathyaksha Devatha. We all need an able body to work and courage to take up risky jobs. This two qualities, although cannot be visibly seen, are also the boon of Maa Sakthi, without which there can be no productivity and security for any life on the earth. Maa Sakthi also bestows both Saatvic and Rajasvic qualities.
Maa Saraswathi always bestows the Saatvic qualities. She bestows the knowledge for every aspect in life. Let it be teaching, working, to do business, to cook, to maintain an office, factory or house etc., the first requirement is the knowledge how to do it. Maa Saraswathi blessings can be seen in people with deep seated knowledge in many things in life.
Lord Shiva bestows long life. He can remove the Apa Mritu Yoga, which is the cause of untimely death of a person, before his destined final end. All people run through this Yoga a few times in their life. Prayers to Lord Shiva remove this and help the man to run through his destined life. So Lord Shiva gives the full live, so that all can live long enough, to do their duties and enjoy their life. Hence Lord Shiva the first Prathyaksha Devatha.
Lord Vishnu bestows good health as Danwanthiri. He can cure all the diseases and give us a good health to live. He can also prevent a lot of sickness that could affect our body. We can enjoy our life and activities in our life, only if we are independently able to move around the world, without the assistance of anyone. This ability is bestowed by Lord Vishnu.
We can thus chronologically assimilate the Pancha Prathyaksha Devatha as follows:
Without the life in our body, all forms of material things are useless. In the Gods, the First Prathyaksha Devatha is Lord Shiva who saves us from the unknown untimely death and gives us a long life, so that we can do our duties and enjoy the life.
Maa Sakthi comes next as the food giving Mother, Anna Purani. She is also the energy giver Sakthi. We all need food to live and the energy to work. Without food nothing sustains in this world. So from the time we are born till our death, we need food, that comes to us as a Blessings of Maa Anna Purani (Sakthi).
He is followed by Lord Danvanthiri (Lord Vishnu) who takes care of our health so that we can lead a healthy life.
Lord Danvanthiri is followed by Maa Lakshmi who supports our life in every second of our living, by providing the wealth and money to buy the food, medicines, place of stay, pay for education etc. Once a person takes up the responsibilities of his family or business, his life is controlled by Maa Lakshmi. Without Her blessings in all the forms, he will not be able to lead a respectful life in this Kali Yuga.
Maa Saraswathi, whose Saatvic blessings if one gets, becomes a learned and knowledgeable person. He will be respected for his qualities and knowledge. It is well said that a man gains knowledge of something everyday in his life, from the time he is born till his death. It is quite true. From the time we are born, we learn to suck the mothers milk, then to move, crawl, speak little words, sit, stand, study, understand jobs, etc. So knowledge goes with us till our death on a daily basis.
All of us have to offer our prayers to all the Pancha Prathyaksha Devathas daily. But, a person can do intense prayer to any of the Prathyaksha Devatha as per his current requirement. As the requirement of our life can change always, he can worship intensely on that particular Prathyaksha Devetha, whose blessings he would require most at that situation. His requirement will be definitely granted by that Prathyksha Devatha.
Like the Pancha Butha that is ruling the whole universe, the Pancha Prathyaksha Devathas rule us. Prayers and offerings to these Pancha Prathyaksha Devathas could lead our life in a better way. This will make us eligible for a better judgement by Lord Brahma, either to give us the Salvation or for a better life in our next birth.
