WEAPONS OF VEDIC TIMES – VARUNASTRA
Varunastra is a diving weapon of Varuna, the God of water
and seas. This weapon produces rains so
heavily in seconds that can cause flash floods.
This can destroy a large amount of enemy armies and the land.
There is no weapon made to this date that can be compared to
this. In the modern days, scientists
have successfully found the use of Silver Iodide to mature the clouds by
grouping moisture on the silver iodide particles. This takes a long time for the clouds to form. Recently, Chinese army used the silver iodide
missile to blast and spread silver iodide in the sky. Although this method is generally,
successful, it is not a full solution to induce rain within a given period of
time.
Till today, this procedure to induce more rains is not
developed as a weapon, that could unleash heavy rains on the enemy land, that
can flood the land and fill the dams, that would burst with water. No such weapon is yet made.
Varunastra could be very specific. It could target an area, or group of people
or a single individual. There are many
instances in the Puranas, where this weapon had been used in simple or intense
form to destroy the enemy by both Gods and the demons. The counter weapon that
could stop the effect of a Varunastra is the Agnayastra.
The person who uses this Varunastra has absolute control on
this weapon. Like the other weapons of
Vedic time, the sender can use the intensity in any form, make it just light or
intense.
These flexibility to use and hit a target precisely or to
save the target after having sent the weapon against the target, made the
weapons of Vedic times more superior compared to the weapons made till date. Modern weapons making is still very away in
ages compared to the weapons used in the Vedic period.
